It takes a LOT to keep Nevis Equestrian Centre running, and we rely on the generous donations from kindhearted people like you!
In addition to our many wonderful horses, we have a whole farm full of fuzzy friends and rescue animals. We care for our rescue animals like they are a part of our family and are actively involved in their rehabilitation process – both mentally and physically.
From donkeys and goats to pigs, cows, turtles, chickens, ducks, bunnies, and more, all animals can find safety and sanctuary at NEC.
Please consider supporting our mission to provide feed, medical, and veterinary care for our animals by making a generous donation.
We thank you for your donations, and for your help and support!

Getting to ride on the beach (and go in the ocean on horseback!) was a truly amazing experience. Her horses are well cared for, sweet, and extremely trustworthy. I've been riding my whole life and was very impressed with how well the horses knew their jobs and kept their riders safe, even the beginners in our group! :) Jessica StravinoMarch 19, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Erika was very responsive and helpful with booking. We had a great morning trail/beach ride with Wilson with stunning views of the island and water. Definitely recommend! Alex FordFebruary 14, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Erika is great, and the horses (and other animals) look healthy and are very calm and pleasant to deal with. We had ~1.5 h ride, got to the beach, and went into the water too. I highly recommend it if you are visiting Nevis! Plus, it's a great way to support the local business, and hopefully, the equestrian will rise again in Nevis! Booking and payment went smoothly and our guide ensured we had a safe and informative ride. It was a great start to the day! Lauren ValdiviaMarch 14, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We booked a family sunset horseback ride. Erica was super communicative the entire way leading up to the visit, including responding to my questions regarding my little ones. When we got to the property, Erica permitted my little ones to interact with the other goats and farm animals. The horseback ride was peaceful with some of the best views on the island. Navin was our guide and he was super patient with my youngest, guiding her horse the whole way. I would highly recommend this activity and only regret not being able to go again while on the island. Group was lead by Wilson and it was so enjoyable, from the mountains to the beach, we explored and enjoyed. Thanks Erica for having such a fun experience on Nevis!! Highly recommend to all!!!!
The Nevis Equestrian Centre is a family business, owned and operated by CEO John Guilbert and daughter, Erika Guilbert-Archibald with assistance being provided, on occasion, by youngest son, Ryan Guilbert and adult grandchildren, Scott Guilbert Jr. and Kayli Walters.
John Guilbert, Owner/General Manager, raised Arabian show horses for over 20 years in Norco, California and is a Journeyman Horse Shoer (blacksmith) of 36 years. John is a retired executive of AT&T and, after 25 years with the company, relocated to Nevis with his family in 1994 (joining his brother, then General Manager of Trinity Broadcasting Network) arriving on the island with an Arabian mare, his daughter, Erika’s, thoroughbred and the island’s first commercially manufactured horse trailer.
John is a past President of the Sierra Empire Arabian Horse Association, Manager of several horse shows in California and past President, Secretary/Treasurer and Chairman of the Classification Committee of the Nevis Turf & Jockey Club.
John established the Nevis Equestrian Centre in 1996 with Erika and top jockey and race horse trainer, Nevisian, Mr. Dan Bartlette, who, regrettably, met with an untimely death in 2005. John is the past (2001-2009) Executive Director of the Nevis Historical Society and integrates his knowledge of historical sites/events and eco-tourism into the horseback riders’ experience. He is an African American citizen of Nevis and the USA married to Alison (Ali) Jordan-Guilbert, radio broadcaster/horse show announcer in the USA and founding Manager/Announcer, CHOICE Radio FM Nevis (2005-2012).
Erika began riding almost before she walked… and went on to develop her skills as an English, Western and Hunter-Jumper Competitor in horse shows throughout Southern California for 15 years before moving to Nevis. In 1998, Erika began to volunteer her services in a weekly therapeutic riding program for children with special challenges in the Nevis school system. She trained, coached and traveled with her equestrian students for their successful competition with Special Olympics in North Carolina and Ireland (a first for Nevis).
