Ride a Horse in Nevis
Get answers to all your questions
I've never ridden a horse before. Is that okay?
Of course! We offer tours for riders of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced.
We will teach you the basics of how to mount (get on the horse) and dismount (get off the horse) as well as how to start, stop, and steer safely.
Even if you’ve never ridden before, our horses are experts at their jobs and will take care of you so that you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!
I'm scared of horses, they're so big!
They may be big, but our horses are very friendly, very gentle, and very calm. We make sure that all of our horses are safe and kind so you can have a great, positive experience!
There are some pretty easy ways to make sure you stay safe around all horses, though:
- Never yell or run when you’re around a horse as it may startle them.
- When you feed a treat to a horse, make sure to keep it in the center of your palm with your hand flat (and don’t spread your fingers – keep them all together, including your thumb) to avoid accidental nips.
- Never walk directly behind a horse and never pull on its tail.
What should I wear on my ride?
We recommend you wear whatever you’re most comfortable in, but strongly suggest you wear pants or shorts that you can sit comfortably in with your bathing suit underneath, along with closed toed shoes.
Do I have to wear a helmet?
We supply helmets for riders who want to wear one, but they are only mandatory for riders ages 17 and under.
What is provided on rides?
We will provide you with drinking water and some great new memories!
How do I get to Nevis Equestrian Centre?
We are easily accessible by car. You can easily take a taxi from your hotel to our location or drive yourself with a rental car.
