The first week of summer horse camp at the Nevis Equestrian Centre was full of fun, games, and excitement! Our campers enjoyed a fantastic few days of learning, creativity, and plenty of time in the saddle with our wonderful horses.
To get started, NEC campers dove into understanding the essentials of horsemanship. First, they learned how to properly groom and safely saddle their horses, which builds both confidence and responsibility while forming special bonds with their new four-legged friends. Next, NEC’s experienced team gave campers guided rides so they could experience the joy of horseback riding, with the beautiful mountains and open fields as the perfect beautiful backdrop.
But horse camp isn’t just riding! Each day at NEC also brought new adventures off the trail. Campers enjoyed arts and crafts, where they painted, colored, and expressed their creativity. Of course, plenty of giggles filled the room during our fun face painting sessions, and friendships blossomed as the young campers shared stories, worked together, and cheered each other on.
Additionally, campers were encouraged to express their creativity in a very special way by painting the NEC petting animal enclosure! With plenty of colorful paint available to create a masterpiece mural, the kids of all ages made their mark on NEC by decorating the facility fencing with their unique artwork.
Campers also filled their days by playing fun games and even learning how to give baths to the horses! It can get hot here, so it’s important to be able to “shower” the horse after a ride. Plus, it’s fun for everyone involved, both horse and human!
The combination of hands-on horse experience, artistic activities, and the vibrant Caribbean setting made this year’s camp an unforgettable experience for every little camper who was lucky enough to be involved. We had some first-time riders and others who had ridden before, but for each and every one, the memories created will last a lifetime.
We are so grateful to all of the campers, parents, and staff who made this year’s horse camp such a success! We still have more sessions available for this summer, so if you’re interested in signing up your child or children, please get in touch with Nevis Equestrian by clicking here
